Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Specular highlights for translucent materials

At the moment, specular highlights for translucent materials (i.E. glass, water) doesn't work.

Are you guys working on this? Because this is a serious showstopper for some projects.

Otherwise UE4 rocks.

I've made a trick for specular light. If you have only a few objects that need specular light and you are willing to make some custom materials for them, this can solve your needs:

Epic has said that they'd like to make significant improvements to translucency, but that they won't be doing it in the near future.

You can get more detailed information from the dev posts in this question: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/10362/reflectionsspecularity-on-translucent-materials.html

In the meantime dont forget to set Translucency Lighting Model to TLM_Surface and play with Specular and Metallic values to boost reflections.

Yes I read that somewhere. The thing is, reflections are only one part for believable glass/water. You still need the specular highlights.

Let's hope Epic get's this fast done.

Thanks to you both!
