Mortal Kombat Style Blood

I’d like to know anyone’s opinion as to how I can make Mortal Kombat style blood in my game.

I already have the capabilities to assign particle effect upon collision - I do several hit spark particle systems. But as far as the blood, I’d love to have blood particles fly up and when they land, the stain the floor.

Obviously this needs to incorporate particle systems, particle physics and decals. I’m just curious as to what the best way to connect them would be. i.e., when a blood particle collides with the floor, place a random blood decal there.
