Distorted context menus in OS X

I get distorted/stretched context menus in the editor, making it really hard to search for stuff.

I have a 21:9 display, maybe that has nothing to do with this.

OS X 10.9.5
UE 4.7.5
GTX 770 4GB & LG 34UM95 display

Hey ultratony,

If you unplug your external monitor, are you getting the same results on your Mac?

If you are not, we can assume it has to do with the screen size ratio as well as the resolution. I would go into your resolution settings for your external monitor and set the resolution to a 16:9 on your Mac so it copies the resolution from there. Let me know what your results are and if you find any new information.

Cheers,

Hi Andrew,

Unplugging and replugging monitor doesn’t help. I also tried 1920x1080 as you suggested but no change.
It’s strange that the more I type in the search bar, the smaller the texts get in height.

If I just click on “Add Component”, it is stretched out like in the first screenshot, but if I click again to close the popup menu and click again to re-open it, then the text is normal.
However, when I start to type, every new character squashes the text more just like before. So it’s kind of a guessing game, hard to find what I need.

Cheers, Tony

Hey ultratony,

Thank you for the extra bit of information. What I meant by unplug, was to unplug your monitor and keep it unplugged. If your Mac laptop screen, not your external monitor, is not stretching then we can determine it is the monitor causing the issue.

From what I have gathered this screen ratio is unsupported in the engine currently. I am going to do some more digging to find out what can be done to add support for this type of resolution and screen ratio.

Regards,

If you are experiencing this issue with Unreal Tournament as well, it seems the engine is having compatibility issues with the screen ratio. If you would like, I can enter a feature request to add support for ultra-wide screens.

Cheers,

Hey Andrew,

I don’t have a laptop, this is my only display
It would be great if support could be added, 21:9 popularity is increasing. I have problems in UT betas as well (some buttons/elements fall outside/below my display for instance)

Thanks, Tony

Yes please!
Thanks, Tony

No problem. Let us know if you are experiencing any other issues. We are happy to help.

I have gone ahead and entered the Feature Request for additional support/compatibility for an ultra-wide monitor UE-13808.

Regards,

Andrew, I upgraded to Yosemite and the distorted/stretched menus problem from my first post is gone! All is well now.
Cheers, Tony
