My download stops at 81%

Trying to open the launcher to get into UE4, but there is an update that gets half way then won’t download (even though my internet is fine).

A few parts to the question.

Is this a known issue, of not being able to download the update file?
Is there a way to run the launcher in an offline mode?
If not is there a plan to allow people to use the software without an internet/epic-server connection?

Thanks in advance for any help regarding this issue.

Ok so I have tried everything and nothing seems to be working. I have lost a good half days work already. Here is an image to help illustrate the problem. As you can see it get’s stuck downloading at 0b/s, and I have no idea how to open the launcher without this update starting.

Hello,

Hopefully someone else can chime in with help to your launcher issue. In the short term, when you launch UnrealEngine, before you even enter your username you should see an option to “Go Offline ->” which should allow you to use your previously downloaded version without being online.

Hi JustGarry,

We have a temporary workaround for this issue as we work on the permanent solution.

You can edit your DefaultEngine.ini to increase the timeout value. You can find it here: “c:\program files\unreal engine\launcher\engine\programs\noredist\unrealenginelauncher\config” and add the following section to the end:

[HTTP]
HttpTimeout=600
HttpConnectionTimeout=180
HttpReceiveTimeout=200
HttpSendTimeout=200

Hey Stephen thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately this fix has not worked for me, although I have found a way to get into the editor without the launcher in the meantime.

Thanks for the link to the other thread, I will try some of the other suggestions over there, and keep an eye out for future updates.

When I had the issue, I did what Stephen said. It might seem like it’s still stuck, but you’ll have to wait 5-10 minutes and see if it begins downloading.

When I had this issue, I did exactly what Stephen said. The thing is, you might have to wait from 5 to 15 minutes. During those 5-15 minutes it was still stuck on 81% but it eventually worked.

No worries well I have left it to work away so I will report back after another while.

Yeah that worked, thanks again!
