Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Unreal Engine Won't Create a file

Every time i try to create a project it prompts me to put a name. Whenever i put in a name it results in asking for me to get rid of ^ even when nothing is there it will prompt me to delete it. What do i do? Do I have to reinstall unreal 4 to get it to work or is there some kind of fix for this?

Hey Heated,

Which version of the Editor are you using? Also, could you please provide me a screenshot of the error including visibility to the name of the file that you're trying to create? Please keep in mind that there can't be spaces or special characters within the file naming conventions.

Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks! :)

You need to go to that file path (usually its documents/unreal projects). You can then rename it from there.

Accually I just noticed you file is before the projects, oops. Um, try to find it and rename it?.?.

Hey Heated,

Your username on your computer is causing trouble because of the ^ symbol. Unfortunately, UE4 doesn't recognize special characters at this time. Can you change your username to just 'Heated2'?

Thank you!

Hey Heated,

Do you see where your user name is 'Heated^2'? That is the reason why you can't create a project. Are you able to either change the user name on your computer, or move your project to another hard drive that you may have?

Thank you!
