Using FABRIK to stretch bones

We are using FABRIK as an IK system for a chain of bones. However, we also want to move the IK bone beyond the chain’s length so that the bones in the chain stretch to the target accordingly. It looks like Two Bone IK has a toggle for enabling stretch, but FABRIK does not.

Is there a way we can achieve this?

I would really like to have an answer to this. That would be exactly what I need.
