[IOS] Global Shader Cache File is missing?

Hey guys,

We’re trying to get UE4 working on an iPad and we’ve got to the point where it will launch on it, but we get this error in the log:

LogPlayLevel:Display: env: The global shader cache file '../../../Engine/GlobalShaderCache-
GLSL_ES2_IOS.bin' is missing.

And on the iPad, the splash screen comes up, and then it’s just black.

We’ve tried cooking the files, but it doesn’t change anything.

Any ideas?

(We’re just using the default First Person Code project)

Hi Ineni,

Some quick questions for you:

  1. Are you on Mac or Windows?
  2. Are you using the Binary or Source version?
  3. How are you launching the game (straight from xcode, from the editor)?

Alright Krudos, can you try these steps and see if you’re able to launch successfully?

  1. Create a code project
  2. Compile the ProjectEditor-Mac in Development
  3. Launch the Editor
  4. Launch on Device

Hello,

Thank you for your report. We were not able to investigate this on the engine version you reported, but there have been many version changes to UE4 since this question was first posted. With a new version of the Engine comes new fixes and it is possible that this issue has changed or may no longer occur. Due to timetable of when this issue was first posted, we are marking this post as resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported in the current engine version, then please respond to this message with additional information and we will investigate as soon as possible. If you are experiencing a similar, but different issue at this time, could you please submit a new report for it.

Thanks!

i know nothing about coding and i keep getting a pop up message about this game that was created in the unreal engine 4 about it missing a global shader cache file and i don’t know how to resolve it. Could someone please give me a simple, watered down solution and not go into a technical explanation with words that i don’t know. Thank you.

Please post your own thread to AnswerHub. This is a post from 2014 and it’s outdated. Please include what version of the engine you’re on, provide the exact error and whether or not it happens on every single project that you work on.

Thank you!
