Directional Light Intensity Value

Hi i’m trying to achieve as close to real world values for lighting as i can in an exterior large landscape environment using a directional light as the source of sunlight. In the UE4 Documentation its stated

“Intensity determines how much energy the light outputs into the scene.”
“For Point Lights or Spot Lights, this is in units of lumens, where 1700 lumens corresponds to a 100W lightbulb.”

For me to get a 1000 lux value for overcast day how would this translate to the ‘intensity’ value? Is there a conversion?

A lot of getting correct lighting is about trial and error since there are some many different values and assets that can affect the overall look and feel of your scene. I would suggest taking a look at our ‘Architectural Visualization’ section on our Forums page. The threads within the section are all about creating a realistic type feel for their projects, and will definitely give you some solid insight on how to get started with lighting your project properly.
