Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Error when packaging game

Hi, I keep getting errors when attempting to package my game for shipping (it doesn't work when packaging for development either). I know a few people have posted about a similar problem before, but errors are different in most peoples cases and a lot of solutions I looked at haven't helped. Here are the last lines of the output log, where everything seems to go wrong. Any advice or help would be extremely appreciated!

Hey Swearl,

In order to assist you further, would you please provide the full error logs as a .txt file? You can upload it to your next reply. Also, are you able to cook and package all other projects, it's just this one?

Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks! :)

Sure, I've included the full output log. I don't actually have any other projects to try cooking or packaging on, I could quickly make a new blank project and try it out if you want?

Hey Swearl,

The asset large_crate.uasset is actually corrupted and it will need to be recreated. If you've recreated the large_crate.uasset and you're still experiencing issues with cooking and packaging your project, please upload the new logs in your next reply and we will investigate the issue further.

Thank you, have a great weekend! :)

Brilliant, that worked. Thank you! Although I was wondering, why does the game run slower and textures render slower now that It's packaged? I thought packaging it for shipping would make it faster than playing it from the editor???

You too!

Hey Swearl,

The packaged game should run better than what you're running with PIE. Did you wait for all of the shaders to compile before actually packaging your game? I know that can cause issues with packaged games when it's packaged too quickly after opening the project.

And I know that with certain graphics cards, sometimes you need to set up their own settings within your graphics card to have certain games run better. However, I do not know your set up so I'm not sure if that would be the issue either.

Honestly, I would post an additional AnswerHub for this question, especially since it's different than the question originally posted.

I hope you're able to figure out why the packaged game is running slower. I haven't experienced this before myself. Good luck!
