I performed a clean install on my desktop PC and now cannot re-install UE4 because of my internet. I was able to install the launcher but whenever I try to install the engine I get code 1. I do not think this is not an issue with the launcher just my internet is quite useless and does not get along with certain servers. Have the same issue with Origin and Dropbox.
I do have an old laptop and I do go places where I can actually download things but I have not found a way to get the UE version over to my desktop. Can anyone help me here or is UE4 only for people with a high speed cable internet connection?
A good internet connection would be nice, since the Engine uses a few GB. Although as long as your internet connection doesn’t die while loading the engine (and even when it should continue loading where it stopped) you should have no problems.
I don’t really know if you could just copy the engine from one pc to another but you could test it. It should be stored somewhere at C:/program files/Unreal Engine/VersionNumber
You could try to just move this whole folder over to your pc, but i guess this will also take awhile.
I have satellite internet and while the speed is okay(10mb/s) the ping/latency is really bad. All I could think is that these servers that are doing this to me are probably wanting a quick response and if not the download terminates.
Whenever I clink Install the loader spins and then the error comes up. So it does not even try to download. Sorry for not mentioning that before.
With the moving the Unreal install I can try that but all the Google search I did does not mention this working. Will still try though.
Did they change it? Normaly you can download the source and install it. How else would you be able to modify the source
