Realistic interior lightning

I started to use UE4 and I would like to use it for ArchViz. I am experimenting with the lightning based on workflow what Koola´s doing at Lightroom. When I create an empty house it looks good, but when I added the kitchen furnitures it appears very dark. please help. ( I have reflection sphere, lightmass importance)

Check the metallic value being used on your dark cabinets. If the value is too high, it’ll start darkening things.

Three thoughts:

  1. Make sure your materials have reasonable values set. Real world black objects are actually usually much higher than 0% brightness.
  2. Putting dark objects in a room makes the room darker. I don’t just mean the obvious fact that the dark objects are dark, I mean also that less indirect light is going to bounce around the room because it’s being absorbed by the dark objects. So really, your ArchViz may actually be working correctly as a preview to show you that light won’t bounce around much and that kitchen may need bigger windows to get the amount of natural light you’re looking for.
  3. Try increasing the brightness of your lights, and if that doesn’t result in a brighter interior scene for you, check your Eye Adaptation settings:

The UE4 camera may be limiting the brightness via this system because of how bright the exterior is. Try setting your Min Brightness higher.
