FBX import problem (C4D -> UE4)

HI everybody,

I have made this egypt-looking column in C4D, after exporting as FBX and importing into UE4 (export and import settings are attached), I get this weird looking result. It looks like UE4 does not recognize the surface correctly. After putting on a material in UE4, I still get this strange look. It looks like the front surface is not visible.

Can somebody help me?

It looks like the normals are flipped, you will have to reverse them, or at least some of them.

okay, how can I do that, is there some kind of “repair” function?

I’m not a expert for C4D, but if you search the Internet for “c4d reverse normals” you will find various tutorials that will guide you through the process. I’m not aware of a UE4 function for this (there might be) but it’s anyway better if you correct this inside c4d and then reimport it.

Select polygons of your model (flipped normals have the blue color) right click → Flip normals. Polygons will turn yellow, meaning normals are oriented a good way now.
