Character gets smaller when walking against a wall

Hey guys,

I have quite a wired issue, anytime my character walks against a wall it’s size just decreases and it is like it walks into a hole, afterwards when I turn around and try to walk away he walks on the spot until he “grew” back to his initial size…

I really don’t want a mario-character,

Thanks in advance

I’m not quite sure I understand. Can you add a screenshot or video?

Hey ,

In order to better assist you, we’re going to need a bit more information. I need to see how your blueprints are set up, and I also need to see what you mean when you say your character shrinks when he’s up against the wall. I’ve never heard of this before. Which version of the editor are you working within? Are you able to reproduce this on a new project?

Thank you!

Okay, I’ll go ahead and download a screen capture programm, as you won’t we able to tell from a picture… will probably be 30-45mins thanks already though

upload takes 40mins -.- (just a small video but for some reason it uploads really slowly to … and I can’T attach the video file here)

Okay here is the link for the video, where I showcase the problem ingame, the other ione with code will come soon (sorry for the beginning I was confused cause of the programm ^^)

2nd video is somehow bugged won’t work will attach some screens

Here’s my character (since anew engine update it is outside the hitbox until I start the game (wired bug but I had the issue before that already…))

Thanks

Hey ,

I’ve tried a few things to try and reproduce the issue you’re seeing. I moved the capsule out like you have in the left picture, and that did not cause the character to “shrink” or “crouch”. I have also tried making the capsule size large like yours is and I was unable to reproduce this issue as well.

Which version of the Engine are you using? Is it 4.7.6 being used to create your project? Did you create this blueprint out of the First Person Template?

Are you able to zip your project and upload it in a private message on the forums for me to view?

Looking forward to hearing from you, thank you!

Thanks a lot… can’t find a place to send u a private message tho… don’t really know my way around in the answer hub too well

Hey ,

You can send me a private message on the forums, this should be for you. If it’s not, simply look for on there.

Looking forward to assisting you further, thanks!

Done thank you so much!

Hey ,

When you uploaded your project, did you provide all of the files? The reason I ask, is because when I open your project, I receive a lot of errors about missing assets, materials and etc…

Also, when I press play within your game, I am able to press the space bar, which will shoot me high into the sky, or I can look down and come back down, which is functioning properly. I do not feel that’s how your project is suppose to react though, which is why I am concerned.

With that being said, I added the hero.uasset to a freshly created First Person Template and I did not sink down when running against the walls. So I’m wondering if it’s something to do with your level rather than the character blueprint itself.

Looking forward to hearing from you, thanks!

Wellp that is not actually what is supposed to happen… I’ll zip it up and upload it as zip file but also I will try and reimport my “Hero” class might fix the error if nothing happened in your case…
(Also I’ll try in another level)

I SOLVED IT o.O

after such long time I found the error, it had something to to with the Camera arm, it was too long and that soehow caused the bug to happen

Thank you soo much for helping and supporting me thought, without you I wouldn’t have found the bug

Hey ,

I’m glad you were able to figure out the issue with the camera. I thought something along those lines but I simply couldn’t reproduce it. You’re very welcome for the assistance provided, please let us know if you have any further questions.

Have a wonderful day!
