Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

[Closed] Hang on File->New Level

I am on Mac OSX 10.9.2. I just downloaded the UE4 and following the getting started guide on the unreal website. As soon as I do File->New Level the editor simply hangs.

I tried running the editor from code but still the same behaviour. I tried restarting it several times after force quiting it but no success :(

Can someone please help me out? I can't proceed at all.

Hey Anshul,

Can you tell us your system specs? Does it always hang in the same spot? If you could attach your most recent log after this happens, that would be helpful.

Yes it always happens at the same spot. I just relaunched my unreal launcher too (it auto updated itself). Same hang. System Specs: Intel core i7 2.6Ghz, 16GB RAM. Macbook Pro.

All other menu items inside 'File' menu seems to work fine. I haven't downloaded the 3GB of Content Examples, not sure if it is required?

This doesn't help much, sorry. But maybe sampling the process in Activity Monitor will tell us more.

Please open Activity Monitor (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and when UE4 editor hangs, select it from the list of processes, then select Sample Process from View menu. It'll open a new window and after a while fill it with information on what the editor is doing (ie. where did it hang), which you can save as a text file. Thanks.

Attached. Thanks a lot for looking into it! Sample 1: Under 10 sec of hang Sample 2: After about a min

Never mind. My stupidity I guess. I have a dual screen setup and the 'New Level' window is hiding behind somewhere on the second screen.

I closed all the applications I had opened and thats how I discovered it. All other child windows were opened on the same screen as my UE Editor except this one.

So sorry for the trouble. Thanks a lot!!
