Can I import a custom BSP Brush?

In UDK you could import a mesh from Max/Maya and use it as a brush. I’m wondering if you can do this in UE4.

Id like to use this method to make a floor which has an inset on middle group of faces, like so:

I basically just want a different material on inset so it borders a carpet or tiles etc.
I can do it using Edit geometry tools, but I just want to know if this is still possible?

Thanks for any replies.

Hey CJbear,

Currently, there isn’t a way to use meshes as BSP brushes. Can you give an example of how this capability might be used? It seems like it might be easier to construct your mesh with two materials in your external editor before bringing it into UE4 as a mesh.

Thanks!

Hi ,

Thanks for reply, its mostly just a time saver.
I used it as a shortcut when making my levels, it saved me time by not having to remake all of those large scale meshes in editor or unwrapping them, I could just import them and project my materials onto them very quickly.

It’s more of a sentimental way of preserving my workflow

I’m happy to change my ways, Cheers!
