Importing FBX to Unreal Engine from 3DS Max

Hello.

I have export default Genesis 2 character to FBX and I imported it to the 3DS Max.
In 3DS Max character’s eyes look good:

After that I exported from 3DS Max to the *.fbx file, with options:

And I want to import it to the UE 4:

And I press button Import.
After import character seems well, BUT… But without eyes! (((

Why eyes shows well in 3DS Max, but doesn’t display in UE4? It’s UE4 FBX importer bug, isn’t it?

If I had to guess, I’d say the eyes are probably using a texture (bitmap) that isn’t being imported along with the FBX. I see you selected “Embed media” which I think should have exported it, but check your UE4 contents to see if it’s in there.

As I understand, textures for the eyes are named as

V5BreeEyes6M.jpg
V5BreeEyesM.jpg

And they are in the Content folder in the Content Browser:

I see. Then it’s probably one of 2 things. The eyes don’t have the right material applied to them, or the texture sample isn’t being piped into the material correctly.

I would open up whatever material is being used on the eyes.

As I see, eyes exported as two textures:

V5BreeEyes6M.jpg
V5BreeEyesM.jpg

And no of these one were applied - no texture for the Element EyeReflection in the Edit mode of the UE4:

How can combine two textures to one Element?

What types of links must be?

That’s a good question, I couldn’t tell you how they intended to use those textures, however if you take the top pin of the top texture and plug it into the base color of the material, you should at least be able to see them.

You might also need to plug in a TexCoord node into the UVs.

It’s too complex for me. The eyes are made up of multiple objects with several different UVs and some translucent materials, I don’t know how to export them in a way that UE4 can understand.

Hmm… The same problem and for male characters from DAZ3D… Have you any ideas, how to fix this issue? May be with another textures?..

Any idea, crew?

Still not resolved…

I’ve fixed eyes’ materials manually…
