Animation graph transition rules broken?

When I create a new link between states they no longer have an icon that lets me alter the rule.

Has the workflow changed? I can’t see any option to switch them on that might have been added.

OK I think this is definitely a bug, because if I add a second transition to the same link, the pre-existing button moves over to make space for the new one, but the new one is missing. Restarting the editor did not help this. Any suggestions?

Hey SirYakalot,

I can’t say we’ve ever seen that happen before and looks like a bug. So you haven’t found any workarounds for it at all? Without any consistent repro steps, I might have to ask if you could send along your project. If you want to do that, you can zip it and upload to dropbox, google drive, etc and then PM me the link.

Can you try panning the graph view so that the transition and states are no longer visible, then pan back?

Yeah I still can’t get them. Is there a new way of creating them?

It’s actually not project specific

Ok here’s the fix - you double click one of the state nodes that has the blank arrows, then you go back to the state graph BY CLICKING ON THE FILE TREE AT THE TOP. Switching back to the graph with the tabs doesn’t work.

I understand that it may not be project specific, but I still cannot reproduce it here. This is why I requested a project, preferably with a blank arrow already in it. I have to reproduce it to enter a bug report.

I’m glad you found a workaround in your Answer though.

In my personal experience in 4.14, by just adding and undoing the transitions like 5 times I managed to make the transition rulers to “magically” reappear. I haven’t compiled before but it is still puzzling why the rulers randomly disappeared. Was just following Step 7 on this one before it happened https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Gameplay/HowTo/CharacterMovement/Blueprints/AnimBlueprint_Jump/index.html

Hey FaustaHakuryuu,

Would you mind opening a new thread for investigating this? This issue is rather old and we’d like to start a new conversation about it.

Hello. I’ve had this problem for a long time, it’s a small bug, usually just unzoom and then rezoom and you’ll find the transition. If not, reopening the tab will fix it. At least in my case (throughout all the versions from 4.10 to 4.21)

Still had the bug in 2021 and your trick did the job ! Thanks a lot !

I’ve seen this MANY times as recent as 4.26 even - I always hit compile and there will be a yellow warning in messages that you can use to access the missing node. Alternatively you can load literally any other graph in the blueprint and it will be there when you come back.

It may be hard to reproduce intentionally, but it is clearly there as a bug, with consistent behaviors when it manifests.

I find that recompiling, then zooming in/out with the mouse wheel makes the things appear.
Most of the time.
