FBX import issues

I can’t do it. I can’t import any of my 3d material into UE4:( Can anybody allow obj files to import into UE4? my BFX doesn’t work.

Which program are you using?

Also, Unreal phased out the use of collada, and wavefront a while ago, there’s a good chance they’ll be brought back, but currently you can only use fbx.

Also, you need to make sure that exported materials are set up properly for UE4, or else it can’t use them since it has it’s own internal material editor which is extremely powerful.

I make most of my geometry in Zbrush4R6 and import that into 3ds max 2011 and then use the fbx export plugin to export my geometry. I have version 2010 and I am trying to upgrade my fbx plugin to 2013. I watched a video you guys made importing stuff into Unreal engine with materials and everything using the 2013 fbx plugin. I am not sure right now if I will be able to get that plugin but I am still able to export the fbx from 3ds max 2011 into Unreal engine. When I do it won’t display the material and warns me it may not be compatible with some games at run time:(. I can get the mesh into Unreal engine just like I want it. Everything but the texture maps. If I create them correctly so they fit inside 3ds max 2011 can I knowingly import all of my geometry into Unreal and just apply all said maps on the mesh after words with no problem?
When I import geometry into The Unreal engine everything is small. Unreal engine works in centimeters so if I switch everything to centimeters in 3ds max 2011 and create a wall that is 400 centimeters high by 2000 centimeters wide by 25 centimeters thick is that what I would get in Unreal engine? I also read that scaling things In the Unreal engine affects game play.
You talk about making sure materials are set up properly before bringing them in the Unreal engine. You just mean to make sure they are uv mapped correct?
It would be advantageous if you knew any secrets to export directly from Zbrush4R6 to the Unreal engine? Do you know of anything like that?
I am really, very excited with the Unreal engine and I intend to make millions with it. I will be unstoppable when I can learn to correctly import geometry into the Unreal engine and use layers for different materials that will make everyone be like “this is the coolest game ever!”.
Thank you for being apart of this amazing Unreal engine…
