Translation tool is flickering into a strange shape

I just installed UE4 and it looks really promising!

Unfortunately I’ve got this strange and annoying flickering going on with my translation tool. Check it out in the screenshot below. You can see that the original shape remains but it adds this ugly shape. Why is this happening and how can I get rid of it?

Is this something that you see first thing when you open the project? Does the issue persist if you select other object? Does this happen with the other tools, such as rotation and scale? Lastly, what OS are you using?

I’ve never seen this issue before, so the more information we can find out, the better chance we’ll have to fix this problem.

I’m running UE4 on Ubuntu 15.04 the flickering also occurs on the rotation tool but with a different kind of flickering and the scale tool doesn’t flicker at all. Selecting other object doesn’t solve the problem, it continues flickering.

Just to make sure I understand what’s happening, when you have the translation tool selected and move an object in the level around the translation tool becomes visual corrupted, correct? Dose this happen in other projects as well? You may want to also test in another engine version ( or re install the branch you’re currently using).

Sorry for the late reply, haven’t looked into UE4 for quiet a while until today! The TRANSFORM tools become visual corrupted, indeed. It occurs in every project I start/open. Along this problem I found some other problems as well. These problems might be off-topic but it might be useful to mention them here anyway. So what did I noticed as well: the “Geometry” tab is missing from the first mode and I can’t select edges nor vertexes of a mesh.

Is there a probability that my editor just build incorrectly?

I don’t think something like this would have been caused by a bad install, but it would be worth checking by updating your engine version to the latest released version (4.8.3). If possible could you post your DXDiag as well?
