We are building a game with Oculus Rift but we have a problem.
When we try to use the Open Level node in a streaming level situation the game will crash when the Oculus rift is attached. This happens both in Editor and in Standalone builds.
We’re using Rift DK1 with runtime 0.6.0.0-beta.
Thanks in advance for the assistance with our problem.
p.s. After it crashing in our game we tried a clean setup. Clean project, just 2 planes connected via streaming, still crashes.
I was unable to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a few questions that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.
Quick questions:
Could you provide the exact steps used to reproduce this issue on your end in the clean project that was mentioned?
When you say that the oculus has to be connected, do you mean that it has to be in use (in VR mode) or that it simply must be plugged in and on (not currently running, just setup)?
-First make a Persistent Level with 2 streaming sublevels. Mark one of the levels to load on start and the other to be streamed in with a trigger.
-In the persistent Level Bind the R key to a Open Level() node in the level blueprint.
-Connect an Oculus Rift (we use a dk1) to the PC with runtime 0.6.0.0 installed and set it up to use the 'Direct HMD Access from Apps.
-Run the scene in a fullscreen standalone window so the oculus connects to the project.
-Press R to crash.
Please find the dxdiag and log files in the attachment.
I was unable to reproduce this issue on our end. I tried to reproduce this issue with the DK1, however I was unable to get the DK1 to work with a runtime higher than 4.4. Have you made any changes in and/or out of the engine to modify your DK1 and/or it’s runtime to configure it to run with the 0.6.00 runtime? Would it be possible for you to provide a project that is producing the crash so that I may take a closer look at it?
Hi Rudy,
No, we haven’t made any changes to either the engine or the runtime. For me the DK1 is working without problems.I do have a little testcase that crashes for us. But i’m unsure as to how to get it to you.
We have not heard back from you in a few days, so we are marking this post as Resolved for tracking purposes. If you are still experiencing the issue you reported, please respond to this message with additional information and we will offer further assistance.
