Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

4.8p4 ios crashes at startup

When using 4.7.5, I can package the project for ios successfully and it runs well on my iphone6 plus,but when I upgrade it to 4.8 preview4,I can package it with no issue,but it crashes on my iphone6 plus at the beginning.Thanks very much!

Can you get the log from the device? This can be accessed via the Xcode devices window by downloading the container for the app from the device. That will help us diagnose what is going on.

Sorry I use windows and I don't have a mac...I don't know how to get the log through Windows

Hi hls333555,

Here are the instructions for getting crash logs off your device:

Open iPhonePackager

(Engine/DotNET/IOS)

Select a uproject file (optional)

Select the Advanced

Tools tab Select Other Deployment Tools...

Select Backup documents...

Select the IPA for the game you wish to get the log for

The documents directory data will then be copied to Engine/DotNET/IOS/IOS_Backups or GameDir/IOS_Backups if a uproject was selected The log can then be found at IOS_Backups/Game/Saved/Logs

Please include the log here as a txt file. Thanks!

Sorry for the late reply.I have upgraded to the UE4.8 release,but sadly the crash still occurs.Here's the game log file and the ios crash log:link text link text

Hey, also, can you send us your project? Please remove the Saved and Intermediate folders, and you can send via a file transfer service such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

Can you reproduce this crash on your device using the Tappy Chicken project, or is it specific to your project?

I try running tappy chicken on my iphone6 plus and it smoothly runs with no crash.And I also package my game for Android ATC ,and it runs well on Mi4.

Since that my project is so large,and my poor upload speed,maybe it's not convenient to directly send you the project...

So you're only seeing your project crash on iPhone 6 Plus? Do you have any other iOS devices you can test and see if you get the same crash? If you do and it does crash, can you give us crash logs for that device?

Sorry for the late reply...I have upgraded to UE4.8.1,but sadly,it still crashes on ios after packaging for ios...However,I found that if I toggle the shipping mode on,it never crashes,but with few issues(e.g.landscape materials do not show white on some area,and the water material(use panner)does not show correctly...).Here's the crash log file on my ipad air:link text

And you're still only seeing this with your specific project on the iPhone 6 plus? It sounds like now you're seeing it on an iPad? What OS is it running?

Unfortunately those logs cut off and don't have any info about the crash.

With respect to the materials, have you double checked that you're not using any assets that are unsupported for mobile? The materials section has some specific advice for older devices and feature level ES 3.1.
