Why will the engine use C:\ when installed in D:\?

Hi

Just bought an SSD to speedup the engine, but the launcher will not let me change where to install the engine.
My question is: Why is it that the engine stresses the C:\ instead of D:\ (my ssd), when I use the engine (example when light is beeing build? Is it not completely installed on D:\ ?

The launcher and the project are on D:\ , too.

Engine installs where laucher is, where you got laucher installed?

Reinstalled it, so that the launcher is on the SSD.
The project is on the SSD, too.
But it is the C-drive that gets stressed, when I use the engine, and not the SSD.
One of the times is when I build light, where the ssd is ~0% load and the C: on ~100%

It should be installed on the SSD, but when I use the engine it stresses the C: when it should stress the SSD.

This fixed the problem, and improved my buildtimes
Thanks a lot for your help!

Keep up the great work and have a nice day!

Hi GamZ,

I believe your Swarm Agent is running on your standard drive. Check to see where the CacheFolder for Swarm Agent is located.

  • If you are on Windows, after you build lighting you will see the Swarm Agent icon in the Show Hidden Icon section in the bottom right corner. Open it.

  • Go to ‘Settings’ and see where your CacheFolder is located.

  • If it’s not located on your SSD drive, then create a folder named ‘SwarmCache’ on that drive and redirect the CacheFolder setting to there.

If that doesn’t solve it then it is likely because some files are installed (this is normal and necessary) in your operating system directory.

Cheers,
