Unreal Launcher Fails to Open

I have posted a question before but it has been marked as resolved and I didn’t know if the issue would be assessed if I posted back to that one, so I’m starting a new question.

I just reinstalled Epic Games Launcher ( I uninstalled after the previous attempt failed to open ) and the installation goes through with no errors and acts as if everything is fine. However, whenever I try to open Epic Games Launcher it does not open, the cursor spins as if something is loading and then nothing opens. I then tried running as administrator and it produces the same results. After some digging, I found the “Troubleshooting Launcher Problems” page and tried all of their tips and none of them seem to work.

My system specs are, and yes these are under the recommended specs ( however, there is no specification on minimum requirements, so I’m unsure if the app has any minimums ) :

  • OS: Windows 8.1 Embedded Pro x64
  • CPU: Intel 2.4 Ghz dual core processor
  • GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX 580
  • RAM: 4.00 GB

My dxDiag.txt is attached

The windows event logs show an application crash error, shown below ( files attached ):

Hi diabeticDemon18,

It’s fine that you created another report. For future reference if you post on your old report it will reopen and bump it back to the top of the section queue.

I looks like the issue is with your graphics card. The NVIDIA Quadro FX 580 only support DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 is required in order to run the launcher/editor.

Here is what we recommend:

  • Desktop PC with Windows 7 64-bit or a Mac with Mac OS X 10.9.2 or later

  • 8 GB RAM

  • Quad-core Intel or AMD processor

  • DX11 compatible video card

If you have any other questions about specs, this is a great place to post and see what others are using to run the editor.

Cheers,

TJ

Good to know, looks like I’ll have to develop with this software at home then. I have a better computer there, just wanted to be able to work in my free time at work. Thanks for the help!
