4.8 preview: Full Editor freeze for >30 sec while using bsp

Dear Epic team,
i unfortunately have to report this bug. indeed, i am facing a very annoying situation.
the best way to understand the issue is to open the attached file and experiment by yourself the following

  1. move the bsp named “0MOVE ME TO FREEZE”<-- the freeze happens
  2. delete 1 of the BSP called “1DELETEME” or “1DELETEMETOO” <— it will freeze again
  3. once (1) is done then (0) will be faster but not smooth as it is when you start from an empty map

Please help as level designing is becoming a pain!!!

How many bsp’s do you have in the map? Additionally, can you post your dxdiag here? Are you using “Update BSP Automatically” or do you have that unchecked?

Hi , i am sorry, I have a limited access to internet for the moment! that is why i did not answer before! i will provide the information as soon as possible. in the meantime i guess you can already find the number of bsp there are in the level as i attach the .umap
can’t you get the dxdiag from the umap as well?

Strangely, the first time I attempted to open it the map wouldn’t open, however I was finally able to open it on th emost recent attempt and found that the problem is the number of faces on your stairs bsps. Bsps are extremely heavy, especially stairs bsps. If you change those two stairs to static meshes it should clear the freezing you are seeing. This is highly recommended to do with any bsps that are the size and shape you are looking for, once placed it is best to switch them to static meshes so they don’t bog down your machine too much.
