[UMG] - Muddy Semi-Transparent Rendering

(The top two images are rendering incorrectly in semi-transparent areas - The bottom two images render correctly)

I just completed a set of rendering tests using various UMG elements after noticing that the new browser component renders transparent images badly when the transparent checkbox is selected. The same type of “muddy” rendering occurs in semi-transparent parts of an image when using the 3D widget component in world space.

The browser image is being rendered directly to screen space and using the same PNG file as all the other tests. Black is being added to all the semi-transparent areas and is most likely related to the concept of not premultiplying the alpha channel correctly.

This is not an issue of of screen space verses world space rendering, the browser view in screen space clearly suffers the same muddy rendering as the 3D widget in world space.

If I uncheck the transparent background button for the browser widget, then the colors render correctly against a solid background.

Thanks for your help-

Hello JasonW,

I was able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have written up a report ( UE-16692) and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I will provide updates with any pertinent information as it becomes available. Thank you for your time and information.

Make it a great day
