Refreshing source control?

Guys,

We are trying out UE Editor with a source control connection. In this case SVN. Client A has checked in a test material. How do we refresh client B or sync from Unreal? Is the intention that client B syncs using a third-party SVN client themselves?

Thanks!

Tommy.

Hi,

actually that would be really helpful!

Hi,

Refreshing client data is currently only possible on a per-file basis from within the editor (right-click on asset->Sync). Any new files & folders currently need to be synced using an external tool.

Do you think that having such a feature in the Editor would be useful to you? If so I can add it to our backlog.

Yep totally useful. I think what would be really useful is two things:

  • A popup or alert somewhere in the editor that shows that there are incoming changes, perhaps incorporating a number next to the source control status, for example:

3099-svnnotify.png

  • A dialogue showing the incoming changes(including operations) when you click the above notification/alert in the editor. For example:

3111-incomingchanges.png

I think this would give users a simple, yet powerful heads up, about changes to the project. It would also remind them to keep up to date, avoiding change-bombs.

Any update on that matter?
Going outside unreal to check for new files is a pain.
