Max World size in A Multiplyer game?

What is the max world size in a multiplayer game before things start to break?

I know in single player you can use streaming and origin shift to have virtually infinite size maps but what about multiplayer?

I don’t think origin shifting and other things are possible in UE4 multiplayer game without breaking it.

So am I limited to 500k x 500k uu limit for max map size

Max world size was increased to 20km square in 4.6 or 4.7 cant remember.

The only thing that will break is the loading times! haha
Obviously, trying to load a 20km map populated with objects is going to slow loading times down considerably.

No, I read somewhere on the forums that physics would break as well if you cross the limit

Yes… But you can’t go past the limits. So the physics cant break if you can’t go too far away from 0,0,0. So my point stands, nothing will break, but trying to load a detailed 20km map will take a while.

The standard world size limit is 20km square. Which is about 4 times bigger than Skyrim. And you want that for a multi player game?

If it was all contained within the 20km limits yes. I’m not 100% sure, but you may start to notice precision problems in UE4 when near the edge of the world. I’ve not experimented with this yet. But either way, I doubt that would be a problem.

I’d just like to point out, level streaming and origin re-basing is possible with multi player, it just requires work.

Well just think of Space scenario where there is hardly a few objects in like hundreds of kilometers, would the physics be able to handle it?

Has anyone tested this with VR multiplayer?
