Leap motion integration non-existent

So I just upgraded to the 4.8 release and was hoping to try out the officially supported Leap integration. Well it isn’t even there even though the plugin for is added. Usually the easiest way to add the Leap to the project in the 4.7 Full Source distribution is to just add the ALeapMotionControllerActor to the scene or change the default pawn to be a LeapRiggedCharacter but neither of those are available options. Anyways, I hope I’m wrong and just am missing something, otherwise it’s back to 4.7 Full Source for me.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Jstaud,

I was able to get the leap controller to show up by add the leap motion controller component to a character blueprint. From there I just placed a copy of it in the level and as soon as I hovered my hand over the leap the hand shows up in game. I hope that this information helps.

Make it a great day

Hi Rudy, I’ll try that and see if it works. Thanks!

There is no component for Leap Motion Controller. Just to be sure, are you using UE4.8 or 4.7?

Hello Jstaud,

I am using 4.8 and I have created a new character blueprint.

That’s strange, for some reason mine isn’t showing up.

Hello Jstaud,

After seeing your screen shot I tried this again on a Mac and was able to find that this component is not available. I have written up a report (UE-17193) and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I will provide updates with any pertinent information as it becomes available.

Ahh, I didn’t think it was an OS specific issue since I built it from source. Makes sense. Thanks again!

Despite of that Leap Motion support is currently unusable due to a bug in UE 4.8, I’m afraid: [4.8.1] Leap motion plugin broken - Platform & Builds - Epic Developer Community Forums
