Why am I crashing while editing my BSP brushes?

While working with 3 pieces of geometry the editor crashed while I was trying to adjust points to line up the bsp.

While working I also noticed that the meshes were losing faces? they would disappear for no reason.

Hello,

Thank you for the information that you have provided. I have a few questions about the issue. Is this a reproducible crash? Does it occur with the 3 exact objects or can you get it to happen with others? Does this only occur in one project?

Sorry for the delayed reply this was my second crash although its hard to duplicate I did it twice.

heres the steps basically

  1. all geometry
  2. Make 12 sided cylinder 2048 size by 32 Z
  3. 2 boxes 2048 x1024 x32
  4. rotate the boxes 15deg to that the high side is toward the cylinder
  5. move to outside edge and line them up
  6. at this point since its hard to do this exactly the same everytime I have crashed it twice

what I did notice was the tearing shows up in the cylinder soon before it crashes

sorry I cant be more descript as maybe wont try to make this odd shape and configuration

Unfortunately I was unable to reproduce this effect. Does this happen only on a specific map or can you reproduce this in a clean map with nothing else in it?

Hey I gave it a try, I couldn’t duplicate the results. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. What graphics card are you using? In UDK I had to block things on different levels and stream as always visible, but I’ve had a good experience with ue4.

EVGA 780 GTX and it was only 3 meshes on the map and a lightsource. I would have understood if there had been a lot going on otherwise but it was so little.

Man, I don’t know. If you are overclocking you card, don’t. Its got be a driver issue.

Hey I don’t know if this is the same bug but I’m getting a crash that’s consistant with any BSP brush.

  1. have an unselected BSP in the scene
  2. switch to geometry editting
  3. click a face of the BSP to select the BSP
  4. click the same face again to select the face
  5. switch to place mode
  6. click the same BSP face again and it will crash

Happens every time like clockwork. Replicated in my scene and new project first person blueprint with the BSPs already in the scene.
