I know that someone answered the question on how to make the launcher recognize the installation directory of UE, but i don’t know how to do that for UT.
There is this method to put an empty file named $movedMarker in the installation directory of the engine, but I don’t know how to apply that to UT.
Thanks in advance,
fe-fe.
Hi fe-fe,
It really depends on which version of UT you are using, if you’ve downloaded it through the launcher previously and just moved it to another location and want the Launcher to detect that then you can do the following:
If you want the Launcher to
recognise the files where they
currently reside; temporarily rename
the installation directory where you
have UT currently as we don’t want
to accidentally overwrite them.
- Run the Launcher.
- Switch to the UT page
and click “Install”. - Select the
directory where you want the final
installation to be and click
“Install”. - Wait for the UT button to
say ‘Downloading’, then pause the download. - Close the Launcher.
- Delete the
directory that the installer was
installing to (the one you selected
when asked). - Rename/Move the existing
installation directory so that it
replaces the one you just deleted - Run the Launcher
- Switch to the UT
page and click “Resume”. - Wait for the
UT button to verify the
installation, it will then only
download anything again that it
thinks is incorrect or in need of an
update.
Please note, if you’re not using the build currently obtained via the Launcher, then this process will end up replacing your files with the current Launcher build of UT instead.
