Blueprint thumbnails

Hello,
My blueprint thumbnails behave strangely. selected chessPiece blueprint is Parent actor blueprint class. It contains two meshes: chess piece mesh and collision mesh (box) for it. Pieces 01, 02, 03 and 04 derive from it. I only replace piece mesh. All pieces are assembled on board which is a separate class. However as you can see pieces thumbnails show all pieces assembled on board.

Hi Aristides,

Thank you for your report. This is a known issue in 4.8 and has a report in our database (UE-17453). It was just recently found, so it has yet to receive evaluation. Luckily, it is purely visual and should not create further issues with your blueprints. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Is there any progress on this? It’s really annoying seeing your Blueprint be deconstructed into a pile of trash in thumbnail and doesn’t indicate at all how it’ll look in world.

Hi Xaymar,

bug is still open, but I’ve increased community interest level and added this link to post. We unfortunately do not have a timeline for when this issue will be addressed.

Yep, I have it. Is kind of cool but sure mess with my OCD.

I know you’re making a joke about it, but I think is actually a pretty valid point. A HUGE part of successful game development is keeping things clean and organized throughout madness. Being OCD is a great trait for anyone developing anything of publishable scale and, for that reason, I think this bug needs some serious attention.

Just encountered this bug myself when replacing a Static Mesh inside a blueprint. Now BOTH SMs show up in thumbnail at same time. I hope this will be fixed soon! I’m using version 4.12.5-3039270+++UE4+Release-4.12.

Thanks!

EDIT: I just noticed that if I closed and re-opened editor thumbnails correct themselves. (If for some reason they don’t auto-correct themselves, you can then proceed to edit thumbnails and they should). However, it’s still a bug, as thumbnails will get messed up EACH time you update blueprint. This solution is just a workaround at present.
