Multiple Roots Found Even Though There's Only 1

I can’t import a skeletal mesh with animation even though it only has one root. The skeleton is for a monster so the rig was created by hand. But it has one root and all the bones are under that in the hierarchy. Any help? I’ve seen similar posts but can’t find any helpful answers. I’m exporting the Root (with all the bones under it) and the mesh “TongueStem.”

I animated everything with a character set and some IK controls in Maya, if that helps lead to the source of the problem.

I think I fixed it. Created a group and put the bones and the mesh under it. I guess UE4 was confused that the mesh was on the same level as the root even though it’s not a joint. So you have to export the group to avoid complications.

Thanks 0vr. This got me on the right track. I still was still getting the error even when exporting the group, but I moved the skeleton out of the group and exported both the skeleton and the group (including my mesh) and it worked like a charm.
