Newbe trying to use Unreal for the first time

I posted this question in the discussion forum and the moderator suggested that I post it here as well as it may be a bug.

Hi all. I am a programmer but have never ventured into the games world and thought it was about time I checked it out. I downloaded the latest version of UR4, made sure all my software was up to date but when I click the launcher all I get is 2 seconds of Windows egg timer then nothing. I thought it may be doing stuff in the background so I left it overnight but still nothing. As I said this is completely new to me so it may be that I’m doing something stupid or I’m missing a vital piece of software.

PC is AMD Athlon II x4
4.00 Gb RAM
64 bit Win 7
NVIDIA GFORCE 7025 on board graphics

UE4 and the launcher require a DX11 compatible video card as mentioned in the FAQ. According to this spec sheet, your graphics card does not meet the min requirements: Graphics Cards, Gaming, Laptops, and Virtual Reality from NVIDIA GeForce

You could try running with the -opengl flag. To do this, right click your desktop shortuct and select properties. Then just add -opengl as a commandline argument to the end of the Target box on your shortcut’s properties.

Hmm, your current specs actually looks pretty underpowered for UE4 for me. Have a look at the recommended hardware: Linux Game Development in Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine 5.2 Documentation
