[4.8] Bug when duplicating static meshes in old blueprints

Hi there,

since the update from 4.7.5 to 4.8.0 i get very strange behaviour when duplicating meshes in my blueprints.
I duplicate the mesh, either vie ctrl+w or rightclick within my blueprint, then:

  • The duplicate has it’s pivot/gizmo somewhere completely different than the original.
  • The duplicate is also invisible (all settings are exactly like the originals).
  • When i try to move the duplicate via gizmo, the gizmo stays at the exact same location, doesn’t move at all, the values however change (in a strange relation to how much i actually move the mouse).

When i add a new component to the blueprint, or drag and drop a static mesh into it, the so created component behaves completely normal. However, if duplicate this new component i get the exact same issue stated above.

I did not yet try it out with a newly created blueprints, if needed i can do this as well.

Cheers

Hi Priareos,

I was able to reproduce this and have entered a bug report, UE-17609, to be assessed by the development staff.

having the same issue - figured i was doing something wrong!

So if I have 10 static meshes in a blueprint and want ten more, i have to Add Component → set the mesh → set the settings for each one, instead of duplicating it, so that I don’t get the “ghost static meshes.”

Following the thread for the follow up

Has this been fixed in 4.9? I don’t see it in the 4.9 preview notes. It’s a pretty serious issue.

Hi ,

This has been marked as fixed for 4.9. If you experience the error in 4.9, please comment here and let me know, I’ll be happy to take another look.
