Reflective glass tutorial?

Hi, I’m trying to create a glass material, and I have refraction / distortion working, as well as translucency. The only problem I’m having is, I can’t make the glass reflective. I’ve tried metallic and roughness to no avail. I have looked everywhere I could think to look, and am unable to find any straight forward tutorials on making good looking glass. Here’s what I have for testing so far:

Have you set translucency lighting model to Surface? If you have, you might want to give it a bit of metallic value(.2-.3)

Yeah I have it set to Translucent and Surface, adding metallic value has no effect. I removed it in the screenshot but I have tried metallic + roughness + specular.

I just remembered the starter content includes a glass wall, I’ll check that out and look at the material editor and get back.

Hey, there are so many variables what type of glass. Window glass? Glass vase?

Window glass is my main concern. Transparent + Reflective.

Treat the outside window as a mirror you can see through and the inside as glass that nearly perfectly clear. One material will be hard.
Outside , diff a lake blue color, spec 10, metal .9, rough 0, transparent .25.
Inside diff a white, spec 10 metal 0, rough 0, transparent .85
Place a reflective sphere on both sides

Thanks, I’ll try this out in a bit and get back with you. I appreciate your time

I would like to make a material that adjusted to the amount of light. Where if it’s bright outside it reflects a lot and when it gets dark you see right through. But that is way down the list of things for me to work on.

I’ll post tomorrow an example, and show you.

Hi, I’m courious about a thing, why a reflective spehre and not a reflective box ?

No you would use reflective box. I just said sphere because the actor looks like a sphere

Are you working on win or OS X? On mac I wasn’t able to have reflections neither, but I’m afraid is a limitation of the mac version (probably due to open gl version limitations). If you check the content examples from the marketplace , some of the samples like Content Examples Sample Project for Unreal Engine | Unreal Engine 5.2 Documentation look quite different on mac.
