Can't select any button on the Matinee "Create Movie Options"

Hi,
On Unreal Engine 4.8 Linux I can’t select any option on the Matinne dialogue “Create Movie Options”.
Trying to press a button, the dialogue it self or a value it selects what is behind it in the 3D viewport.
Is it a bug? A compiling issue?

I’m in Linux Mint 17.1; Kernel Linux 3.16.0-30-generic; Nvidia drivers 346.72; 32Gb of ram; Nvidia Titan, CPU AMD A10-6800k

Hey -

I tested this in 4.8.1 and was able to navigate around the menu (click on buttons/change values). Can you check if you get the same behavior on Ubuntu that you do on Mint?

Cheers

Hi and Eric,
I apologize not being around, I’ve missed the notification on my e-mail.
Thanks for the replies!

I have now a new workstation that runs Linux mint 17.2 cinnamon (fresh install, ), Nvidia TitanX, 32Gb ram, CPU AMD-A10 7870k, kernel 3.16.0-38, Nvidia 346.72 (the Cuda 7 default ones, I need cuda for Blender) and the same problem persists.
The menu opens, start to open a bit offset from the center but then, suspiciously, auto adjust it’s position to be at the center of the screen and from that point on I can’t press any of is buttons.

Sadly I don’t have Ubuntu in any machine, but if you say it works on it that’s because it does
I can record the error happening and upload for youtube if that helps?

Hey -

We are still investigating this issue of the editor not responding. Do you have the same problem in other areas of the engine or is it specific to the “Create Movie Options” window?

Hey -

I wanted to touch base with you if there is any additional information for this issue? Does this only occur in your current project or does it apply to new projects as well? Do you have the same problem with any other windows? Are you able to use the minimize/maximize/close buttons at the top of the window?

Hey, sorry again for the late reply, busy days
I do can minimize the Matinee window and UE4 Editor, but I can’t close or minimize that specific dialog. It just goes away after exiting the editor.
The issue occurs every time even in the default scene. As far I’ve tested this is the only window where this happens.

Hey -

After doing more research into this issue it appears that this bug is specific to the desktop environment. A fix has been submitted by a community member and should be included with 4.9. Please let us know if this is still an issue after the final release of 4.9. Until then I would suggest switching from Cinnamon to KDE or XFCE.

Cheers

Thank you very much for your work and feedback! Understood, once I install 4.9 I’ll report again. Until then|

Hey again ,
I’ve installed 4.9 everything is the same in the workstation, used clang 3.5 like before and the problem still persists… when I got a bit of time I’ll record it for you to see. I’ve noted that we can now use clang 3.6, would that make any difference?

Hey -

Were you able to test if you have the same issue using KDE or XFCE rather than Cinnamon?

Hey ,
No I didn’t, I use my workstation professionally so I don’t want to mess it up
I’ve recorded the video showing the issue, hope it helps:

Clang 3.6 won’t make any difference for this issue. Could you try this fork (4.9-rcl: https://github.com/RCL/UnrealEngine/), I think the issue might be fixed there by one of Yaakuro’s PRs.
