Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Feature Request: In-Editor Bug Reporting

I just moved over to UE after using Unity and some other engines for the last couple of (+15) years, and I'm running into TONS of bugs in the editor on a daily basis. Seemingly minor things that don't work as expected. However, I cannot be bothered to create forum "questions" as bug reports for each and every one of them - and I doubt the majority of users do either. That would be extremely tedious compared to having a "Report Bug" dialog in the Editor accessible from the Help menu.

So hence, that is what I propose you guys add ASAP! :)

And since you prefer all bug reports to contain certain information, it would be very convenient if the Editor just had it's down dialog/form for it (along with the ability to attach images etc.) It would obviously be easier for it to auto-detect the engine version or even specific build numbers, along with machine specs, instead of relying on the users to fill out those things correctly here on the forum (which is also tedious and prone to errors).

Once you got a basic version running, you could even hook it up to your internal bug reporting system's API in order to auto-create draft of tickets etc. Instead of manually doing so based off forum posts, which is probably tedious on your end too.

Product Version: UE 4.8
