Material functions not rendered in editor with Realtime Rendering enabled.

I bought the AdvancedDissolveFX last week and ever since then I’ve never been able to preview the result of the dissolve materials in the editor. It works in play / simulate modes and the material functions are rendered properly.

Note that the textures appear on the meshes, but the dissolve material functions do not render in the editor.

I simply want to preview the final result of the materials in the editor, without have to click play/simulate, like in the AdvancedDissolveFX video.

What I’ve already tried:

  • About every show flag in the viewport
  • Realtime rendering is enabled
  • Live Update and Live Nodes on the materials
  • Try in a different project
  • Verify the assets in the launcher’s library

It may be best to contact the seller of the content for better descriptions on how to use their materials, since a lot of the users here, myself included, will probably not own this particular pack.

Those materials may be setup in such a way that you will have to use some in PIE/Simulate to see them work because they may be blueprints, or there may be specific ways to use the planes to cause the dissolve effect. I’m just not sure since I don’t have the pack.

Looks like a cool pack none-the-less though.

Already contacted him, and he told me that the only thing he could think of was realtime rendering, which I had already checked it was on.

If this FX pack is doing some custom dissolve stuff using time based events then it would be required for the author to also make sure whatever they are doing works in the editor environment.

Its not an issue of realtime rendering since you said it works in the game but not in the editor. The editor must not be getting the time events so it thinks it is stuck in the fully dissolved state or something like that.
