should i use one set of arms and then attach different guns with a socket, or have the guns and arms as one mesh and switch them out every time?
I’d highly recommend using 1 set of arms and then attaching the weapons to a joint in the arms skeleton. This is how it’s done at larger developers.
If you have multiple sets of arms, it’s a lot more content to manage if you want to make 1 simple change – you’ll have to make it to all of the arms. You’ll also be using more memory with more arms, and that is not ideal.
