FBX animation import problem

I’m trying to import an FBX as a skeletal mesh and then import it’s animation sequence. I was successful in this project before but now it’s giving me problems.

    If I open a new project the Import mesh option is available, If I start a new project and import the same exact FBX file the check box is available. Is there a reason for this?

Looks like it’s importing a Static mesh on the left image, and a Skeletal on the right.

no they are the same exact FBX file even if i check the skeletal mesh box, it collapses the option for mesh type and I can’t even revert it.

So apparently after spending 6 hours exporting the FBX in different ways I come to find that if it’s a cloned project I get different import options. This has to be a bug I cloned the project to test my if my imports would work correctly. However getting different options to import made this impossible.
