Closing the Editor when the Launcher is not running leads to a Crash

With UE4.8.2 when you start the Editor via the launcher, then quit the launcher and then quit the Editor the latter crashes. When you leave the launcher running and just close the Editor again, everything works fine.

Any ideas?

I attempted to reproduce this in-house but I couldn’t get your results. Are you receiving a crash report popup when the editor crashes? If so, make sure you submit it and post either your MachineID or EpicID for us to track it.

Yes, I get the crash report popup. This is the MachineId: 84FEEC0D45658CB880DD77A60C7AD715

Meanwhile we were able to narrow the problem down somewhat. It only crashes if I actually do anything inside the open project. eg. change an material and save it. If I just load the project and then close it again, without saving anything: no crash.

As far as I recall this didn’t happen before 4.8.2.

That still doesn’t cause a crash on my end. Are you using the Open World/Kite Demo or any assets from that project?

I have both the Kite Demo and the Open World Demo, but I’m not using any assets in the project where the crash occurs.

The reason I asked about the Kite Demo stuff is because your crash report is similar to another Kite Demo related issue. However, I don’t believe they are exactly the same so I have created JIRA UE-19140 for this crash. Our developers will be investigating further and we will post back here with updates as we have them.
