Unknown Extension ".uasset"
I want to unpack a .uasset file from one of my existing games, but whenever I try to import it, it says that it's an unsupported file format. How do I fix this issue?

You cant import uasset files! You will have to drag and drop them into your content folder :) I tried dragging and dropping to the content browser and I receive an error saying the file name .uasset is not supported. Could this be due to the fact I'm using my Mac laptop? Will this cease to be the case once I get home to my windows desktop? You have to Drag it in your content folder NOT INSIDE UNREALENGINE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDIMCp9rAnk

When I make assets in Maya and import them as FBx it works just fine , but when I try to get a folder of purchased assets it says it does not recognize them.. Please help
I have the same issue. I copied the .uasset files to the content folder of my project using Windows explorer. I also deleted the CachedAssetRegistry.bin file to force a re-population of the assets and restarted unreal engine, but I still cannot see the .uasset files in the content browser. I am using ue 4.6.1. Am I missing something, or is there another way to import the .uasset files?
I have the same problem with textures. I double-checked that the content browser is pointing at the right folder on the HDD by using "show in Explorer". Everything seems to be OK but the textures just don't show. Probably a mismatch of the versions? Do uasset show up always or are they created for a certain engine version and will only show up if the Engine version matches the uasset version? [edit] I think I know why: it says you need to install Substance plugin first - which doesn't work since a couple of months and engine versions :-(
