Search help

  • Simple searches use one or more words. Separate the words with spaces (cat dog) to search cat,dog or both. Separate the words with plus signs (cat +dog) to search for items that may contain cat but must contain dog.
  • You can further refine your search on the search results page, where you can search by keywords, author, topic. These can be combined with each other. Examples
    • cat dog --matches anything with cat,dog or both
    • cat +dog --searches for cat +dog where dog is a mandatory term
    • cat -dog -- searches for cat excluding any result containing dog
    • [cats] —will restrict your search to results with topic named "cats"
    • [cats] [dogs] —will restrict your search to results with both topics, "cats", and "dogs"

Non-skeletal animation on FBX files

Hey there,

I've been working on a steam engine recently in cinema 4D, and got the animation and mesh to Maya. I've been trying to export the mesh and animation as an FBX file and get it into UE4, all my static meshes are importing fine as FBX files but importing ones with animations adds weird bone groups and such to the imported stuff.

I was curious if it is possible to import the FBX file as just one file, without bones but with position and rotation animations preserved? (I am not talking about vertex/point level animation)

Thanks in advance,

Olaf. (Stilettofern)

HI!

UE4 support transfer animation from 3D program only for a skeletal mesh. Other animation you can create inside UE4 with matinee or blueprints.
