Non-skeletal animation on FBX files

Hey there,

I’ve been working on a steam engine recently in cinema 4D, and got the animation and mesh to Maya. I’ve been trying to export the mesh and animation as an FBX file and get it into UE4, all my static meshes are importing fine as FBX files but importing ones with animations adds weird bone groups and such to the imported stuff.

I was curious if it is possible to import the FBX file as just one file, without bones but with position and rotation animations preserved? (I am not talking about vertex/point level animation)

HI!

UE4 support transfer animation from 3D program only for a skeletal mesh. Other animation you can create inside UE4 with matinee or blueprints.
