[UMG] Designer not displaying bind data on User Widget

I have a User Widget that contains a static text widget and an image.

I have binding for the text property to a variable that has a default value, and I am using ‘SetSlateBrush’ on the construction event. It works well in game, but the Designer doesn’t display the fields, which makes it very difficult to work with.

My guess is that it is not intended behaviour (I recall this working in earlier versions?), so I marked this as a bug report.

Hello Grogger,

I was unable to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
  2. If so, could you provide a detailed set of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  3. Was this project upgraded from an older version of the engine?
  4. Could you provide screen shots of any blueprints that may be involved with this issue?

Hi Rudy, thanks for the response

I was able to reproduce this in a new project (I used the FPS template).

Steps:

  1. Create a new User Widget

  2. Add a text variable in the graph, and set a recognizable default value

  3. Add a simple ‘Text’ widget to the root in the designer

  4. Bind the text property to the text variable

Here are some screenshots:

Hello Grogger,

After going over your steps, I was able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have written up a report ( UE-19393 ) and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I will provide updates with any pertinent information as it becomes available. Thanks for your time and information.

Make it a great day

Any progress? Still a bug in 4.12
