Why isn't my 2D blend space previewing/working?

I’ve created a 2D blend space for basic movement, intent being to go from idle to walking to running, etc., with 2D to incorporate strafing. When I open the blend space in Persona, I can add samples to the graph, but the animation isn’t playing at all in the preview. The character just sits in a T-pose.

If I open the animations themselves, they preview just fine. It should also be noted that in tutorial videos I’ve seen, when editing a blend space, if you select (but don’t open) animations in the asset browser, it warns you with a little “currently previewing another asset” message. I don’t get that message.

I have “Enable Preview Blendspace” checked, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong here.

EDIT: I’ve made a 1D blend space and it works fine. Also, I tried plugging the 2D blend space into an anim graph/state machine, and it doesn’t work, so maybe it’s not a preview thing, but rather I’m not using the blend space properly. I’ve updated the question to reflect that.

Alright, I had the same problem but now it’s working. You can’t just have just animations on the Speed with the 0 direction, you also need to have animations in both Speed and Direction, well I dont know how to explain it well so I will screenshot it for you.



You just need to add an animation to some direction so the Blendspace 2D starts to work.

Ahh, so it looks like it functionally can’t blend in 1D. I’ll have a looksie and see if I can replicate your success.
