Landscape splines problem in 4.8

Ever since 4.8 landscapes have been reseting to a low quality after each save. Here’s the before and after:

I have not seen the problem being silved here. It does not really affect the landscape itself, the collission is just fine. But to see the real landscape in editor, you have to edit it again, wich is really frustrating.

My scalability is set on Epic, however, it does not affect the problem in any way.

Hi Kevintheradioguy,

Does this occur on a clean, blank project with no additional content or is it limited to one project in particular? Is the landscape created in editor or is it from an imported heightmap? If from a heightmap, what filetype are you using?

It only happens in projects, originally created in 4.7 and lower, and with created landscapes. In case you create a new project, in 4.8\4.9, the problen does not occur.

Hello Kevintheradioguy,

I was unable to reproduce this issue on our end. I have a couple of questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.

Quick questions:

  1. Can you reproduce this issue in clean project (that has been upgraded from an older version of the engine if needed)?
  2. If so, can you provide a detailed set of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
  1. I can’t. As noted before, it seems to appear only in projects that were created in early versions. It was whether 4.7 or 4.6. Also, the common thing about all those levels that the ligh has been built.
  2. If there is a possibility, I’d try creating a project and a level in early engine versions, build the light, close the project, update the version, open the project, make adjustments, close the project, delete the lightning build, open the project. At least, that what seems to work for me. Unfortunately my work computer has too little memory to switch between versions all the time, so I can’t really make lots of tests in a short period of time.

Deleted my last post because I saw the answer to my first question is in your post.

Can you post a copy of your dxdiag? I haven’t been able to reproduce this on my end. Additionally, do you have a sample project that is experiencing this I’d be able to take a look at?
