In most places the magnifying glass icon will take you to the selected asset in the content browser
But when selecting a Parent Socket it instead opens a drop-down box to select what socket to use
While the normal functionality wouldn’t make sense for the Parent Socket, the whole thing should really just be changed to a drop-down box instead of using a disabled text input with a button to open the drop-down.
I was able to reproduce the variance between the magnifying glass icon’s use in most instances, verses how it is used with the parent socket field using the steps you have provided and have generated the following bug report: JIRA [UE-20098]. If this issue is addressed in a future version of the engine, we will update this post.
