How exactly can I install the animation and rigging toolset

I can’t seem to install it. I have Maya 2013 and I don’t understand the instructions that it comes with. I paste the file it tells me to pace and nothing happens. Could someone please help? I would really appreciate it

Hi Edkenway,

First you go to this folder location:

C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.0\Engine\Extras\Maya_AnimationRiggingTools\MayaTools

And you copy the userSetup.py file from there to this location:

C:\Users\username\Documents\maya\scripts

Go ahead and overwrite the existing file unless there is already some modification in it that you want to save.

Then open Maya, and when the pop-up window appears, click Browse

Navigate to the same location where you found the original .py file:

C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.0\Engine\Extras\Maya_AnimationRiggingTools\MayaTools

Select the “MayaTools” folder and click OK.

You will now have an “Epic Games” menu at the top of your Maya toolbar.

Cheers!

If you need further help with the tool, please be sure to view the documentation:

Thank you so much man, I really appreciate it.

When i try to do this there is no maya folder in my documents folder… am i doing something wrong?

Hi All I’m trying to install Maya Tools with Maya 2016 I get up to the screen that says “ERROR: Could not find Maya Tools directory, please locate folder using the ‘Browse’ button.” I do this and select the MayaTools button then I get an Error message saying “# Error: IOError: file C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2016/bin/scripts\userSetup.py line 83: 13”

Help please I have a project that I need to complete in a very tight time scale :frowning:

Hi SamQior:

    1. Create a folder called “Maya Tools”
      in Documents>maya>2016>scripts
    1. Paste userSetup.py in this folder
    1. Open Maya 2016
    1. Press ‘Browse’ button and select the newly created “Maya Tools” folder

Animation and Rigging Tools button should now appear in your toolbar

-.

If this does not work, place a copy of the userSetup.py file in the Global folder: Documents>maya>scripts

Hello Stephen!
I noticed that Art Tools don’t come with the default installation of Unreal anymore; you have to select it when the installation starts. So, my question is, how can I download it after I’ve already installed Unreal?
Can you help me with this?

On the Engine slot on the Launcher, choose the dropdown arrow and pick “Options”, then choose “Art Tools” from the selections.

the option for browse does not appear at all
maya does not seems to reconize the userSetup.py , did paste it in all scripts folder i could find.

If you succeeded in copying the userSetup.py to the proper location (typically: C:\Users\username\Documents\maya\scripts) then the next time you open Maya you will be prompted to locate the original .py file from the UE4 install directory (typically: C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.0\Engine\Extras\Maya_AnimationRiggingTools\MayaTools). If you are not prompted to do this, then you do not have the userSetup.py in the correct directory to start with. Just to reiterate: you should have the userSetup.py in two locations: the Maya scripts folder in your Documents folder as well as in the UE4 installation directory.
