Failed to import .FBX

Failed to import '…/…/…/…/…/…/ Failed to create asset ‘/Game/Character/Robot_Mesh’

Hey everyone. Can someone please help me. I created a character that I want to use in UE4… I modeled it in 3ds max 2016 and and rigged it with bones and I use the plain FBX export type to export my mesh. But now I get this message all the time. If I try to import my mesh for the second time UE4 crashes. I’m running on windows 8.1 and using UE4 4.6.

What can the problem be?
Please help.

Try exporting out with the FBX settings set to 2014/2015 in Max.

I have same problem in 2017 with UE 4.14. I change FBX File Format Version to 2016/2017 and its help me.

What about maya lt?
